Polysorbate 80, often referred to as PS80, serves various purposes. Acting as both an emulsifying agent and a surfactant, it finds widespread use in cosmetic, food, and pharmaceutical applications.
Commonly employed in cosmetics like bath bombs, this product enhances the binding of oil and water, ensuring a more effective blend. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in suspending Mica pigments in bath and beauty products, preventing them from adhering to the bath sides or settling at the tub’s bottom. This, in turn, avoids the residue left after water drainage.
In cosmetic applications, the use of Polysorbate 80 results in better integration of oils, preventing the formation of an “oily ring” around the bath.
