What is Titanium Dioxide?
Well, funnily enough you see it in use every single day! Titanium Dioxide in short is a white pigment commonly used in cosmetics, and also food. It is what gives white soap base its colour, and is used in applications from toothpaste, to shampoo, sweets to chewing gum. It is also known for its UV light blocking properties, therefore is commonly used in sun cream too. The chemical name is Ti02, and is a naturally occurring product which is sourced from the ground.
Our Titanium Dioxide has not been tested on animals, and has also not been mined via child labour.
This grade of Titanium Dioxide is of a high enough grade to be compliant with the Q1 2021 EU regs around E171 and powder coatings in Titanium Dioxide
Our Titanium Dioxide is suitable for use in our #1 Jelly Soap Assessment, and also any other melt and pour bases. Adding it to a clear or translucent base will turn the base opaque, enabling you to create a whole load more shades including pastel Jellies! Who knew?!
Commonly Titanium Dioxide is more often used by our Cold Process soap makers.
The easist way to use is to dilute it into a pot with a little liquid taken from your recipe. Usually fragrance, water, or oil. Stir until you achieve a smooth liquid, and add that to your recipe. It will mix with both oils and waters but dissolve with neither.
Many cold process soap makers tend to pre mix it into larger bottles, so it is always on hand should they need it. just give it a good shake before you use it as it tends to separate when stood.
