Things you might not know that you needed to hearÂ
Our industry is supposed to be full of fun and creativity, but sometimes working by ourselves can skew that.
Here are a few pieces of advice that we feel every Soakies should hear to make their process much more enjoyable.
You don’t have to part with trade secrets
If your USP is something that other people would want to replicate, you might find people asking for your process or your supplier. As awkward as it can be to turn someone away, there is absolutely no rule that you have to part with your trade secrets… They’re called secrets for a reason!
Don’t compare your skill to others
That person who has airbrushing down to a T might have spent the last year perfecting their craft, and there are many behind the scenes failures that won’t be shown alongside their perfect final product. Just concentrate on developing your own skill.
Money doesn’t represent your worth
If you’re struggling to make a profit this month, remember that everyone has their downtime. It’s almost unheard of for a business owner to start from the ground up and never suffer from money problems. Just remember to put some of your profits aside when you have a really good month.
Be confident in yourself and your business
You need to be your own biggest cheerleader! Knowing that you have a lot to offer and that you CAN do this is going to take you so far. And if you struggle to think that way, fake it ‘til you make it!
It’s OK to ask for help
Don’t suffer in silence! If you’re struggling with something, whether it’s creatively, financial or anything, please reach out to friends, family or our Soakie Facebook group.
