How to Involve the Kids in Your Creative Process

Five ideas on how to keep your little ones busy (and helpful!) during the summer holidays

As we’re right in the thick of the summer holidays (how are you coping out there, parents?!) we thought we’d share some tips on how you can get your little ones involved in your creative process…

Let Them Paint Your “Whoopsies”

“Whoopsies” are what we call bath bombs that didn’t quite turn out how we expected them to. Although this can be disappointing, especially when you’re working to a deadline, there is actually a benefit to them during the summer holidays.

Give your little ones some dye and paintbrushes and let their imagination run wild! They can be free to get creative while also thinking that they’re helping you out.

Purchase a “Make Your Own” Kit

Our kits have been created to give Soakies the chance to try making a new product without having to buy the assessment or necessary ingredients. They’re also perfect for keeping children busy for an afternoon – although they’ll need your help and supervision, of course!

Choose from our range of 12 kits to find one that you think they’ll be most interested in.

Take Them to a Craft Fair

Going to a craft fair with your children can be a great day out, especially if the weather’s on your side. Craft fairs often have lots of interesting stalls to browse and it also gives you a chance to get a bit of inspiration from other sellers. However, be prepared to cough up some pennies for some sweets or face painting!

Make Products for Them

Keep them interested in what you’re doing by letting them know the final product is theirs to have. Make things fun by changing your work process to accommodate them. For example, if you’re making a batch of liquid soap, colour it green and label it “soap snot”.

Let them Choose Your Designs

Task your little ones with being your own product development team. If you have products that need to be created, let them know what you’re working on but give them free rein on which colours and fragrances you use.

If you’ve got some spare time, maybe even spend the afternoon making their ideas come to life!
