This motivation will have you hitting the ground running after the Christmas break
If you’re ready to take your business to the next level in 2024, the first thing you need to do is set goals for the new year. This will keep your mind focused, your efforts on track and your business moving forward.
Here are three questions you need to ask yourself to set appropriate goals for next year.
Where Do You Want to See Growth in Your Business?
This will help you to decide where it will be most prudent to focus your efforts.
For example, if you want to have a larger social media presence, you’ll have to work on creating content, building a community and nurturing your audience on the platforms most relevant to your business.
What Goal Are You Going to Set?
The most effective way to set goals is to use the SMART method.
S = Specific. Be really clear on what you would like to achieve e.g. Gain new Instagram followers.
M = Measurable. Choose something you’ll be able to track e.g. Gain 50 new Instagram followers.
A = Attainable. Make sure this goal is realistic for you e.g. I’ll show up every day to gain 50 new Instagram followers.
R – Relevant. Is this goal appropriate to meet your overall business goals? E.g. To grow brand awareness, I’ll show up every day to gain 50 new Instagram followers.
T – Time-Based. Specify a timeframe of when this will be completed e.g. To grow brand awareness, I’ll show up every day for a month to gain 50 new Instagram followers.
How Are You Going to Reach this Goal?
Work backwards from what you want to achieve and think about what you would need to do at every stage to reach the next level.
If your goal is to have 50 new Instagram followers after one month, you’ll have to create a plan of how to do this. How often are you going to post? What type of content are you going to share? How often will you check your insights?
Hold yourself accountable to this plan but also stay flexible so you can pivot your strategy if you’re not seeing the results you want.
