Learn more about our OG assessment and how you can make it work for you
When Soak Rochford was first launched, bath bombs were the first assessment that became available to customers. Since then, it has consistently remained at the top spot of our best-selling products.
See below for a range of bath bomb tips including Jay Rochford’s advice, what Soakies have to say, the best tools for your process and some creative inspiration.

Jay’s Advice:
- Large mixing bowls are a must. Glass ones will help the mixture to stay damper for longer whereas plastic ones can speed up drying out the mix.
- With bath bombs, the best advice is to mix and mix and mix. When you think you have mixed enough then keep mixing just a little longer. This is especially important when it comes to adding dyes.
- Another top tip would be to practise bath bombs without adding the fragrance oil in it. This will enable you to get a good feel for the mix without wasting ingredients. If your batch doesn’t go to plan, then smash them up to be sold as bath dust/dino dust/rocks/lava rocks etc.
What Soakies Say:
- Super easy to follow. Soaks supplies are nothing but the best and I always get smooth bath bombs on every batch. Jay is super helpful and so is the group which helped me accomplish nothing but the best for my customers.
- My advice would always be, don’t buy the assessment & expect perfect quality bath bombs ready for sale if you have never made bath bombs before! They take practice, they will go wrong! Don’t give up after a couple of failed batches!
- The water soluble dye range gives you all the colours you need with the ability to combine for additional colours. The pre-made mixes available from Soak are fantastic for consistency of colour mixes and they nailed the kind of combinations you’ll be looking for.
The Best Tool:
- The Pokey Stick: this 19cm metal stirrer is ideal for all sorts of crafting needs. The flat end is ideal for using as a scoop for dyes, whilst the main purpose of the stirrer can incorporate oils, colours, fragrances etc into your creations. The ball end can also be used to tap moulds to release your creations.
